Through the Years!!!

Hey friends! Five months into the new year and SOL have already completed a Tour up the Garden Route!!! What an awesome and blessed experience.

Quick run down:
The Group departed for Mossel Bay @ 5:45 on 29 April, Friday evening. Godwin's brother graciously came down from Mossel Bay to drive the group back up to his home town: Thanks Rubin! God granted us safe passage and we arrived in Mossel Bay several hours later. We settled into our rooms at Boland Park Hotel. What fun we had in the van, watching DVDs, chatting and laughing our heads off for random nonsense, obviously everyone was extremely excited about going on tour.

Saturday (busy day/crazy day) morning @ 5:15 am Leon, Carlo, Godwin and Nathan were picked up by our great host for the weekend Dr Vern Julius and we dashed over to George, to Eden FM where the guys were interviewed live for the show. Then it was back to Mossel Bay to get ready for the first singing appointment, back in George at Rosemoor SDA Church. We had a great time singing there during the Sabbath School program, after which we made our way back to Mossel Bay to sing at the local SDA church during divine service. These were two blessed appointments. We captured most of the singing on film thanks to Megan (Tracy's niece) our photographer.

We went to Vern's house for a great lunch prepared by two of our 'other' group members: Melisha (Godwin's Wife) and Laverne (Tracy and Melisha's sister) Yummy!!! The group had a short rehearsal after lunch and then we went back to Boland Park to get ready for the concert.

The concert took place at Hillcrest High School! What a great time we had. The guest artists were particularly awesome: Witness, Mark and Patricia, Mossel Bay Church Choir and a trio of young girls!!!! Blessed!!! This would prove to be a memorable experience for SOL, the crowd was excellent and we appreciated their enthusiasm. We praised God together that night!!!

After the concert we headed to out to get fed :) and then rested up for our appointment the next morning @ Belong Church. We had a 30 minute slot and enjoyed making new friends with the believers. That appointment carried with it a surprise as well. Once of their members approached us and asked if we would sing a love song or something appropriate for the occasion as her was planning to propose to his girl friend. Godwin, Nathan and Carlo sang Center of the Mark for the couple. What a moment.

We hit the road soon after bidding farewell to our friends and family in Mossel Bay. This was a special experience which bonded the group even more. Godwin, the new boy in the group, had his first taste of a tour with Spirit of Life and it was even more special because it would take place in his home town!

Thanks to everyone over there who made the weekend and great success. Godwin and Tracy basically got this tour going, THANKS GUYS. And Vern, our tour coordinator in Mossel Bay did a fantastic job and we appreciate people like that who love gospel music and are willing to work hard to make events like ours a success! Mark and Patricia for your contribution with ticket sales is appreciated, thank you! And then to all the people who came out and supported us: God Bless you guys!!! Lastly Rubin thanks for your time and for driving us around safely!!!

The tour group: Leon, Tracy, Godwin, Desiree, Nathan, Clarisha, Carlon and Ricky. Our support team for the weekend: Melisha, Laverne and Megan.

Thank God for blessing our time there and we are all gearing up for a return later this year!!! What a time!!!

Stay in touch with Spirit of Life and keep us in your prayers!

SOL is back!

We have under gone a few changes. We say goodbye to Adele Kock, and thank her for her 2 and a half years in the team and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We say hello to Godwin Bruinders, a talented 1st Tenor and wish him a great time as part of the family. We are looking to include 2 female singers asap and invite all interested sopranos to come and audition for the roles. God Bless!

Don’t miss it!

30th Anniversary Celebration 2010

We are 30 years old this year. WOW. God has been so good to Spirit of Life over the many years.

Be sure to watch this space, our Face Book account and any of the groups members for news on the 30th Anniversary Celebrations.

A lot of surprises are in store. Keep praying for us too.

Spirit filled Weekend!

What a great weekend we had! We were asked to sing at Riverside SDA Church this past Sabbath. After church the group, along with some families and friends, gathered at Leon and Levona’s place for a stunning lunch. Singing together is one thing, but you should see this group eat together. It’s really something special. Any way, we always have a great time together, whether its on or off stage.

Later the afternoon the group decided to run through a few songs (emphasis on a few) for the concert with His Men that would take place the next day. Well those few songs turned into a full on concert of between 12-15 songs, maybe more. But it was wonderful. We pulled out some old favourites and tried to break into a few unfamiliar songs.

The next day was just as fun. We teamed up with His Men, who Nathan Douman also happens to sing for. The concert was a fund raiser for an old age society so we really gave it our all. The two groups pulled off some powerful renditions, on their own and together. The group members enjoyed great chemistry on stage and really had fun. They’ll team up again at His Men’s concert 31 October at the Joseph Stone Auditorium.

This Saturday morning SOL will be at Polsmor Prison @9a.m. We’re looking forward to ministrying to those ladies again. One of our songs which rings true in a big way when ever we visit them is She doesnt Know Jesus. To often we judge and make needs and harsh conclusions about other people when we dont have a clue what their situation is like are what they’re going through, or more importantly, whether they know Jesus and what he can do for them. Take a step back and think about it.

We love you and thanks for the support, pray for us as we continue in this glorious work and service.

Chow SOL!

Hello world!

Spirit of Life (SOL) is a contemporary music group, who are dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus through the gift of music. This group of young, energetic, spirit-filled and fun loving people have been ministering in song for close to 30 years.
Leon Cranfield founder and director of SOL says, “When the world celebrates the FIFA World cup in 2010 SA, Spirit of Life will be celebrating 30 years in gospel music. The only difference is, we (SOL) are a winning team”.

And so they are, on the side of angels after all!
